Title: ARRA Virtual Games for STEMM Faculty to Break the Bias Habit
The goal of this work is to create an interactive tool for faculty to experience the impact of implicit bias and engage in evidence-based strategies to reduce the consequences of implicit bias in academic settings.
"Pathfinder is a game that provides players the opportunity to experience some of the biases encountered by individuals from underrepresented groups in academic science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and medicine (STEMM). In the game, players will reflect on their experiences and try to decrease their own biased behaviors. Players assume the role of a young researcher who dreams of achieving academic success.
Along the way, they may encounter examples of bias from peers, superiors, and even
strangers. Becoming a tenured professor isn't going to be easy."
